RDS has 2 flavors, Apache and Tivoli. I am going to install RDS 5.1 and 5.1.0.2 with DOORS 9.2.0.4 and DWA on Redhat Linux. Is there any pro and con on whether I should go with Apache or Tivoli? Many thanks.

Re: RDS: Apache vs Tivoli Apache variant of RDS is supported only with Rational Change Integration. Hence, you would have to install Tivoli variant of RDS in order to configure it with DOORS. I would also like to keep you informed that DOORS supports only Stand Alone or Corporate Mode of RDS and it doesn't support OS Authentication Mode of RDS. Ensure to choose Stand Alone (if you don't want to communicate with your Corporate LDAP and rather locally manage users from within RDS/RDA) OR choose Corporate mode (if you want to integrate with your Corporate LDAP) while installing RDS. Lemme know if you have any further questions. *pavan |
Re: RDS: Apache vs Tivoli PavanHoskeri - Tue Aug 03 15:53:57 EDT 2010 We are planning on migrating our DOORS 8.1 (connecting to LDAP) to DOORS 9.3. The problem is that DOORS 8.1 has the LDAP connection built-in without the need of TDS. Do you have any document or experience you can share with me so the process is as smooth as possible? Many thanks! |
Re: RDS: Apache vs Tivoli dennis.chiang - Wed Nov 17 11:27:46 EST 2010 How have you been! I am here with attaching a MS Word document which has the high level overview of the steps that need to be performed. Kindly ensure the following are in place before initiating the migration: 1.> A known good backup of DOORS 8.1 DB exists (As a fall back option which can be utilized if any issues are observed during the migration) 2.> Soon after installing RDS 5.1 (and fix pack 5.1.0.2) ensure to take a backup of the RDS database even before you create a Corporate Partition. This DB backup would come handy if in case any issues are encountered when creating/configuring the Corporate Partition in RDA. I would recommend you to get in touch with IBM Rational DOORS Support (Email: sw_support@us.ibm.com Phone- 800 - IBM - SERV) whenever you are ready to perform the migration process. We will ensure that a Support Engineer is available to discuss and walk you through the steps required for a smooth migration. NOTE: You would need your IBM Customer Number (ICN) when contacting Support. Let me know if you have any questions.
